Theater Companies

While doing research on some of the most well-known theater companies I have stumbled upon some of what I believe to be the best Theater companies around.

 The first one that I found is called Playwrights Horizon/New York City, NY.  This theater company is known for creating and producing new American Plays and musicals.  Playwrights Horizon has was founded in 1971 by Robert Moss. Playwrights Horizon Theater School is affiliated with NYU’s Tisch School of Arts and Tickets Central.  Some plays that came from Playwrights Horizon are Marvins Room by Scott McPherson, The Heidi Chronicles by Wendy Wassertein, Later Life by A.R. Gurney, Sunday in the Park with George by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine plus many many more hits that people have enjoyed on the stages of this theater company.  This Theater company helps brings out the best of the best when it comes to training directors, stage managers, design and playwrights.

Arena Stage in Washington D.C. produces American Classic plays. Arena Stage was founded in 1950. Arena Stage is known to produce huge plays of all that is passionate, exuberant, profound, deep and dangerous in the American spirit. The productions that were put on have received numerous local awards and national awards, even winning a Tony Award for best regional theater. Arena Stage was one of the first regional theaters to transfer a play to Broadway.  This play was called The Great White Hope and starred James Earl Jones and Jane Alexander.  Some more notable actors that came from Arena Stage were Samuel L. Jackson, Jon Voight, Morgan Freeman and many more that have been involved with numerous productions.
